Clean Shop’s Trevor Mulaudzi to speak at WTS.

Tonight we tromped through the thick heat of the Singapore afternoon into the sparkling premises of the SunTec Center for a reception for  speakers at the World Toilet Summit.   Jack Sim, the unstoppable Founder of the World Toilet Organization, greeted us on arrival.  He introduced us to Jay Peters of the International Code Council and Steve Cummings of Standards Australia.  They will both be moderating design panels on Thursday.   They mentioned their interest in the PHLUSH Restroom Design Principles as they are search for international standards.  That made us feel proud.

Real inspiration, however, came in the form of Trevor Mulaudzi of The Clean Shop.  This South African entrepreneur has been honored by Ashoka and Ernst & Young for his tremendous success in not only growing a successful business cleaning toilets, but also changing the attitudes of tens of thousands of people.   How?  By sustaining the benefits of their training with awareness creation.   For example, The Clean Shop counts numerous schools among their clients.   Trevor loves to get the kids involved with toilet talk and finds that they take the messages home.   Fellow businessmen have told him that their kids, after hearing his talk, have taken fathers to task about wayward drips around the toilet at home!     Trevor combines passion and business savvy with utter irreverence and sheer fun; this may be the secret of his success.
